ABOUT OUR CATCHMENT

The Porangahau and Maharakeke Catchments together cover 15,219 hectares. There are 109 farms greater than 20 hectares in size, mainly in sheep and beef, dairy and deer operations. Takapau is the catchment’s largest settlement. A project is currently underway with Massey University to look at on farm solutions to improve water quality.
